Nick Fidler – Violin Teacher

Nick Fidler is a violist originally from South Africa, with over 10 years of teaching experience.

Education: BA Honours in Performance Music (Cum Laude) from Rhodes University, and a Masters in Performance Music, Viola from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire as well as a BA in Law.

Experience: Throughout 10 years of teaching, he has taught violin and viola to complete beginners from the age of 5-88. He has taught grades 1-8 through ABRSM with 100% pass rate. He has also had the privilege of teaching learners with physical or learning obstacles. Nick is particularly adept at teaching learners who are more advanced and are motivated. His philosophy on instrumental teaching entails “walking alongside” the student throughout the learning journey, facilitating the attainment of the student’s self-proclaimed goals and objectives. He is currently a teaching assistant at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, teaching undergraduate viola students.

Nick is an active performing musician and has experience performing in chamber groups and orchestras throughout South Africa, Switzerland, and the UK. He is currently performing as a freelance viola player in Birmingham although his primary performance outlet is through his string quartet, the Nox Quartet.

Olga Eckert – Violin / Viola Teacher

Olga, originally from Poland, started playing violin aged 6.

Education: She is currently studying at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Experience: Olga is involved in many orchestras and chamber ensembles. As a member of the Continental Quartet she performed at Wigmore Hall, Windsor Castle and Cheltenham Town Hall.

She is friendly and experienced teacher and from 2017 she became a student mentor in Junior Conservatoire.
